the goddesses (and gods) of spring

With Springtime just around the bend, I've been brightening my dour moods by collecting pretty images, entertaining dreams of weaving flower crowns, and eagerly awaiting the first blooms to be pressed for safekeeping.  These ladies (and gents) seem to be the epitome of the season in their flowery finery...

The gorgeous photography of the wonderful David Hamilton.

The ethereal Joanna Newsom.

Audrey, donning the most magnificent floral headpiece...

Sisters Catherine Deneuve and Francoise Dorleac.

won't you be my sweetheart?

Valentine's Day, for me at least, has never been a day of romance, kisses, and whispering of sweet nothings. Nevertheless, I happily embrace the sweets and pink and red hues that it brings. This year, I passed the day in the kitchen, baking some dark chocolate cupcakes with homemade maraschino cherry frosting and mint chocolate cookies, and listening to my own playlist of love songs all the while. The final results were truly adorable and, needless to say, delicious. And as he does every year, my father bought me the loveliest bouquet of pink roses and baby's breath. So I suppose I had a lovely day after all...

A while ago, I thought I would create my own potpourri of sorts, so I kept some rose petals to dry. Now they are inside a powder jar I purchased at a vintage shop, with a cameo of a Georgian lady on its lid.

The petals are so romantic, and still so vibrant!

And finally, a collection of sweet love songs...

you're the cream in my coffee from pattiocleavis on 8tracks Radio.

Happy Valentine's Day! xx

damn fine coffee

A few weeks ago, I finally started watching Twin Peaks, and though I've only seen three episodes thus far, I find myself quite taken with it (in spite of the creepiness of it all, which nearly robbed me of a few nights' sleep). The characters are intriguing, and cliché as it may be, I adore Audrey Horne - in fact, I am thinking about having my hair styled in the same fashion. Speaking of fashion, the plaid skirts, brogues, waitress' uniforms, and knitted sweaters lend such a wonderful quirkiness to the show.

Pure perfection.

pastels! (part one)

Of all the pictures I've come across online, I would have to say that the pastel-tinted ones grab me the most. I adore deep colors, as well - especially in film stills - but the prettiness of pastels is so undeniably feminine that I feel obliged to show my appreciation.

As it happens, several of my favorite films are near to bursting with these lovely shades.

There are so many pictures that I may make another pastel post...or two, or three! But for now, you can find plenty more like these over at my Pinterest.
